The 2000 team narrowly missed their 1st ever team state title after losing to Harrisburg by one point in the final event. Sheena Gordon earned 2 state titles in the high jump and the triple jump. She also finished 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles, and 3rd in the long jump. Emily Tharpe finished 2nd in the pole vault. Tharpe also set a national sophomore record with a 12-3 mark. The 400 meter relay team set a school record in 49.65.

Sheena Gordon won 3 individual state titles in the high jump, long jump, and the triple jump to lead the girls’ team to their 1st ever state title in dominating fashion with 55 points. Emily Tharpe set a school and state record in the pole vault with a height of 12-3. Christina Blanks was 6th place in the triple jump and 7th in the long jump. The 3200 meter relay team also took 5th place at states.

Sheena Gordon finished off a brilliant career by winning her 6th, 7th, and 8th gold medal at the state meet. Gordon swept winning districts in the high jump, triple jump, long jump, and the 100 hurdles for the fourth straight year, ending up with 16 district titles. She set state records in the triple jump and the high jump. Stephanie Stub set the school record in the 3200 meter run at 11:42.8. Lindsay Clark took 4th place in the javelin at states and Sarah Williams tied for 8th in the pole vault.

The team once again won the Metro and District 10 Championship and went undefeated at 6-0. Although the team did not place high at the state championship, Nicole Smith did, as she placed 3rd in the high jump as a sophomore.

For the first time in school history, the McDowell Girls Track team went undefeated in all dual meets and invitationals including 4 invitationals, 5 dual meets, and the Metro, District 10, and the PIAA State Championship. It was the 11th straight District title and their 2nd state title in 4 years. Nicole Smith won the state title in the High Jump, and Emily Evans set 2 individual records, and 1 relay record to share the MVP award. Erin Richard also set the indoor 3000 meter run record with a time of 11:38.

The team was led by Nicole Smith, who at districts won all the jumping events (long jump, high jump, triple jump), and the 100 meter hurdles. She also placed 1st in all the jumping events at states and took 8th place in the 100 meter hurdles. Alex Acker was the District 10 champ in the pole vault and finished 4th at states. The girls were the team state champs for the second straight year and the 3rd time in the last 5 years.

The 2006 girls track team lost a dual meet for the first time since 2001 in a 76-74 loss to General McLane. The team lost again to General McLane in the District 10 Championship to finish 2nd for the first time since 1993. Laura Kosiorek won the 100 hurdles, and Alex Acker won the pole vault at districts to advance to states. Ajla Glavasevic capped off a great year by finishing 3rd at the state meet in the triple jump.

The Girls Track team was able to get back the Region 5 and the District 10 titles back in dominating fashion. The team easily ousted General McLane 110-29 & Villa Maria 110-49. Alexandra Acker won her fourth consecutive district title in the pole vault. Laura Kosiorek was able to defend her district title in the 100 hurdles, and went on to finish 5th at the state meet. Ajla Glavasevic was able to win the Triple Jump, Long Jump, and the Shot Put at districts. Ajla also became the 17th female state champion for McDowell as she won the Triple Jump. She also finished 5th in the Long Jump, and 6th in the Shot Put. Becky Innes and the 4 x 100 meter relay team were also district champs.

The team was led by Laura Kosiorek, who was the district champ in the 100 hurdles for the third straight year and finished 6th at the state meet in that event. She and Leah Presnar, Kelly Fromknecht, and Laura Nientemp set the school and district record in the 4 x 100 relay. The 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relay teams also won at the district meet and went on to states. Freshman Emily Dahlstrand set the school record in the 1600 (5:07.59), placing 2nd at districts and 10th at the state meet. Other district winners included Laura Nientemp (100 dash), Kim Sperring (pole vault), Leah Presnar (long jump & triple jump), Nicole Mayr (shot put), and Becky Innes (discus).

Leading the team was Leah Presnar, who won the long jump (16-2) and triple jump (36-2) at districts and anchored the winning 4 x 100 relay team (51.13) and Laura Nientimp, who finished 2nd at districts in the 100 and the 200 and was also on the 4 x 100 relay team. Lindsey Oberacker was district champ in the javelin (124-10) and led the team at states with a second place finish (145-3) and a school record in the same event. Nicole Mayr won the shot put (37-5) and discus (110-7) at districts. The 4 x 800 relay team of Emily Dahlstrand, Ashley Rinderle, Katie Sabolcik, and Sammy Valloud dominated the event at districts (9:41.3) and went on to finish 15th at states (9:33.07). Kim Mulvin won the pole vault (10-0) at districts as well. The team won their 19 consecutive dual meet on route to a third straight Region 5 and District 10 titles.
